One of the best British cars ever made. Lucas electronics that actually work!!!
Basically a Mini Cooper done right. Put a British flag on the roof :p

I would rock one of those with a k20a2 swap or a small turbo. Or maybe both.

That’s really clean. I’d say absolutely buy, especially since it’s from family so they’re not as likely to try and screw you over.

This $1500 Honda looks better than my $1900 Volvo and many other cars with half the mileage . How does it look underneath?

I drove one of these at a GM event where they set up a little track and brought their cars AND their competitors’ cars so people could drive and compare. They had an Si just like this, and a Saturn Ion Red Line. This was back when both were still new models .
I liked the Ion way better than the Civic, which is not a sentence I’d ever imagined I’d construct. The Civic’s interior was a nicer place to be, for sure, but the Ion was just so much more fun. I was legit surprised. Still, the Civic was fine. I think you’ll enjoy it.
At that price and mileage you should expect that some things can and will go wrong on it , but if it’s had halfway decent maintenance I don’t see why you shouldn’t .

It looks really good, but it's still a machine and with those miles things break. As long as you don't expect worry free motoring all the time, looks like a solid car.

The ion redline and Cobalt SS both had way more power then the ep3 Si.

The cobalt and ion had an absolutely fantastic chassis and engine (turbo LNF).
But they were seriously let down by their interior and of course made infamous by their ignition switches.

I fully expect to do work on it, which is fine considering I’m in an automotive school with a helpful teacher and a fully equipped garage. Even still I’d hope itd be somewhat trouble free.

It definitely had more fun, too. It felt unfocused and had frightening torque steer, but in a good way.

The Ion’s interior was SO bad, but the rest of the car was so fun that I wouldn’t have cared.

Very nice! Looks in very good shape for that mileage...the EP3 was known to be not as good as other generations, but for a first car, if it’s in good shape, it would still be very fun! Let us know how your choice turns out! I can still remember how excited I was to get my first car of my own....it’s a wonderful feeling! :)
A bit of friendly advice from somebody older than you, as exciting as it is to drive....enthusiastically....remember to stay within your bounds and keep things safe. You’re out there sharing the roads with others just going about their day. I never had anything happen to me when I was younger, but I can think of a few occasions where I or friends had close calls and should’ve been more careful. Cars can be replaced, but aren’t cheap.....people can’t be replaced at all. Respect the power and responsibility of getting your own ride! :D

I know it’s been hailed as the weakest Si, but that’s exactly why I love it. It has so much potential that I want to unlock while learning how to work on cars. I’m hoping this is the one.
Also yeah, I am in no way a reckless driver. Compared to literally every other driver my age I am very cautious, never on my phone, eyes on the road all the time. Especially here where driver's generally suck I can't be caught sleeping at all as though of course there is the instances where I can't do anything about it, but I can at least know it wouldn't be my fault for as much as I can do about it.

Good on you mate, and I definitely think it’s a great choice! Make sure you get a local garage to check it out thoroughly before you buy, that way you know for certain it’s not somebody else’s problem that’s been tarted up!

I had the 1.6 liter Europe-only version as my first car. Still kind of miss it.

Sometimes the faults of a car are just as fun as their advantages.
Unless those faults mean it won’t run so it sits in your garage for months on end

My explorer had to have a few sensors replaced because they went bad. It also died on me on the highway one time; that was no fun. As modern cars get old, they break. Hopefully were you to get this, it wouldn’t be terrible.
I didn’t know you started a new school. Hopefully it’s better and more real than the last one. I wasn’t conscious of the fact that school was back in, then again, I was at a college football game yesterday, so I should’ve been more aware of said fact.

Yeah, this school is incorporated within the district and well established for decades u like my last one, with actual proven results in people getting certifications. Plus, it’s automotive specific instead of aviation, which is cool and all but honestly I wasn’t all in with it. I’ve learned it was better to keep my personal life more under wraps compared to, uh...past posts I’ve made. Now that I’ve had time to myself with homeschooling and going back to school, I’ve really taken that time to evaluate what the hell is wrong with me, and honestly I think I’m doing pretty good now. Most of my outbursts were fueled by the stress and anxiety when my school closed and the uncertainty of my future, so I think I’ll be better off from here on o ut. Plus, the garage is just really cool and I love that my automotive class takes up more than half of a school day. It's going good.

Good to hear you’re doing better. On the personal posts, I’ve been through a lot of shit myself, and it’s really all how you react to it all. Good idea to figure out the root of the problem an address it.
